Britain: land of paupers, beggars and slaves
Dear Diary, it has been twelve years now since I began studying Latin (and Ancient Greek). I can quite honestly say that it has led me absolutely nowhere, except that I now do more work than I have ever done, for far less pay. That is only right and proper. It is the very reason I never went to University in the first place. I thought to myself, "If I did this, I would end up doing far more work but earn far less." which is precisely what happened. Britain is a nation of paupers, of beggars, of slaves. (That is, unless you live in Rainbowland, and instead of accepting reality for how it actually is, choose to make it up as you go along). Tomorrow I have yet another day being told what to do by uneducated Eastern Europeans or spotty teenagers, and that's okay too. What does holding a master's degree mean in Britain 2022? Nothing, in fact, less than nothing. All it is is a badge of a sucker, someone that made a whole lot of effort to no avail. That is what makes Britain a land of paupers, beggars and slaves. There is, however, one country I know of, thanks to my ex-wife, where the same thing happens, where many are well educated, but do unskilled labour: Palestine. Britain is, in many ways, like Palestine (certainly in terms of opportunities for the well educated). It is not long now until I have to be again at the behest of these... people, the uneducated, the juvenile. Most of my shift is spent alone, in the cold, out back, doing the most menial tasks imaginable. A violin playing friend once said to me, "You'll get your degree, and you'll still be washing up." I didn't believe him at the time, but now I have two degrees, I confess, I was wrong. All there is here is slavery. That, is the truth.
Max.
